National Board Certification is a demonstration of a teacher’s practice as measured against high and rigorous standards. It is a symbol of commitment to excellence in teaching. When a teacher achieves a National Board certificate, it’s a credential attesting to the fact that a teacher has been assessed by his or her peers as one who is accomplished, makes sound professional judgments about student learning, and acts effectively with those judgments. East Stroudsburg University is committed to providing leadership in promoting and supporting National Board Certification in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
East Stroudsburg University is committed to supporting teachers from Northeast Pennsylvania to pursue National Board Certification. Support groups and help in locating funding will continue. View the PowerPoint presentation for teachers given in October 2003.
In spring 2003, we procured funding to support the fee for a group of teachers, generously provided by Colonial Intermediate Unit 20, State Farm Insurance, and the PACTE/federal candidate subsidy fund. coordinate information between school districts and higher education
institutions.
Develop
a Master’s Degree Program addressing National Board Standards, which includes
courses to guide students through the National Board Certification process.
Sponsor
facilitator training programs to prepare university and school faculty and
administrators to support National Board Certification candidates.
