The issue for the summit was the accession of Turkey to the European Union. Representatives had to research the position of their countries and argue them at the European Council. The delegates managed to reach a consensus on the issue and decided that talks for Turkish accession should begin as soon as possible, choosing to resolve the bulk of the issues after talks begin.
