Objectives. At this point in the course, the student should

1. Realize that forces are nothing more than the results of interactions between different objects. Hence, realize that all forces are part of action/reaction pairs.
2. Be able to determine all action/reaction pairs in any given system and thereafter apply Newton's Third Law to solve arbitrary problems.
3. Know that the tension in a massless string does not vary from point to point. The student should also be able to explain why this is true.
4. Know that massless, frictionless pulleys redirect tension forces without changing their magnitude. The student should also be able to explain why this is true.
