Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education

What is Kappa Delta Pi?

Kappa Delta Pi is an International Honor Society in Education whose purpose is to promote excellence in and recognize outstanding contributions in education. It endeavors to maintain a high degree of professional fellowship among its members, quicken professional growth, and honor achievement in educational work. It invites to membership such persons as exhibit commendable personal qualities, worthy educational ideals, and sound scholarship.

Kappa Delta Pi Membership

Gamma Xi Chapter

You should know that membership in this organization means active membership. This is not just a group to join to have an additional line on your resume! All pledges must complete 20 hours of volunteer work by the time of induction (ten hours per semester). All existing members must complete fifteen hours per academic year.  It is also mandatory (for all members) to attend at least one meeting and one activity per semester. Each meeting and activity is worth a point, and four points must be obtained per semester. You must also participate in at least one committee. We are truly a service-oriented group!

Committees

 

Programming Committee

The programming committee is the heart of the organization. This committee is divided into three sections: Socials, Education, and Community Service. Members of this committee will create meaningful and educational programs for the members. Committee members will make contact with professionals and members in the community to help provide needed services. They will brainstorm ideas and communicate these ideas with the officers and members.

Public Relations

A monthly newsletter will be created to help keep members informed of chapter happenings. Members of this committee will be responsible for writing short summaries of events, updating members of important dates via phone or email, and creating announcements for chapter meetings and activities .

Bylaws & Constitution

This committee will be responsible for updating the Gamma Xi Chapter's bylaws and constitution. Members of this committee will maintain these documents making sure that they are revised as needed. A copy of these changes will be submitted to KDP Headquarters, Student Senate, Chapter President, and advisors.

Membership

It is the responsibility of the membership committee to keep accurate records of member involvement. Members of this committee will contribute to monitoring completion of requirements for existing and initiating members. Committee members will also encourage all members to get involved, earn their points, and participate in chapter activities!

Awards

Kappa Delta Pi seeks to honor and recognize outstanding educators and future educators. This committee will be responsible for recommending candidates to be honored.

Fundraising

The fundraising committee is responsible for planning activities to raise necessary funds to promote KDP activities. Funds raised will be used for service projects, refreshments, the banquet, and any other Kappa functions that require money.

Banquet

The banquet is the highlight of the year. At the banquet, pledges are inducted and awards are presented. The banquet committee is responsible for securing the location, as well as planning the meals, decorations, and clean-up.
