Outcomes Assessment Symposium 2003
East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania
Friday, April 4, 2003
The ESU Outcomes Assessment Symposium provides a forum for university professors and administrators to communicate about innovative assessment practices. Since outcomes assessment is a critical issue in NCATE and Middle States evaluations, information about the Symposium is being disseminated to all universities that participate in those accreditation processes.
The Symposium features two strands:
Strand
A: Department/Program
Assessment Practices
Strand B: Innovative Classroom Assessment Practices.
Presentations will be formatted as paper sessions, panels, or roundtable discussions. All proposals will be peer reviewed. Proposal and registration forms are attached and are also available from the East Stroudsburg University Outcomes Assessment web site at http://www.esu.edu/oa.
The opening
session of the program will be held in the Keystone Room. Trudy W. Banta,
professor of higher education and Vice Chancellor for Planning and
Institutional Improvement, Indiana University-Purdue University will be keynote
speaker.
Dr. Banta has consulted with faculty and administrators both nationally and internationally. She has written or edited 10 published volumes on assessment. Two recent books include Assessment Essentials (1999) with Catherine Palomba, and Building a Scholarship of Assessment (2002). In addition, she is the founding editor of Assessment Update, a bi-monthly periodical published since 1989 by Jossey-Bass. She has been honored for her work by the National Council on Measurement in Education, the American Association for Higher Education, and the American Productivity and Quality Center.
East Stroudsburg University is one of fourteen Pennsylvania State System of higher Education institutions. Located in the Pocono Mountains, ESU is easily accessible from Exit 308 of Pennsylvania’s Interstate 80. For more detailed directions, please access the University web site: http://www.esu.edu.
