This ensemble is open to all University and community instrumentalists with previous experience in high school, university/college, or other community bands.  The UCCB enjoys a fine tradition throughout the region for bringing both students and community members together to enjoy and share in making music.  This group performs standard concert band literature, both new and old, orchestral transcriptions, marches, musical show selections, and a variety of popular music.  The emphasis of the ensemble is on developing musicianship, especially tone, blend, balance, intonation, rhythmic accuracy and sight-reading.  Each semester this ensemble performs a formal campus concert and at commencement exercises.  The band periodically features guest soloists, conductors, and clinicians as featured performers at concerts.  Students can register to receive academic credit (MUS 135), or may participate without credit with approval of the director.  Contact Dr. French at 422-3172 or ocfrench@po-box.esu.edu for further information.
