Dr. Otis French is Director of Bands at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania where he directs the Warrior Marching Band, University/Community Concert Band, and Brass and Woodwind Ensembles. He is also advisor for the ESU Band Fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi. Dr. French served for over 24 years with the United States Army Music Program, retiring at the rank of Major. During his Army career Dr. French served as a Bands Officer and Conductor, Warrant Officer Bandmaster, and as an Enlisted Instrumentalist. He commanded Army Bands in Europe, Texas, and Georgia, and commanded both the Staff and Student Companies at the Army Element School of Music in Norfolk, Virginia. Most notably, Dr. French served as an Associate Conductor for the Army Field Band, Washington, D.C., and as Commander of the Army Ground Forces Band in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. French actively serves as a guest conductor and clinician, adjudicator, and Euphonium soloist throughout the United States. Dr. French served as Director of Bands and Music at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was responsible for administration of the university music programs, and conducted the Symphonic Concert Band, Jazz Band, Small Ensembles, and Basketball Pep Bands. Dr. French was awarded the Citation of Excellence by the National Band Association, numerous military awards and decorations, and was named a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky. Dr. French received his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Maryland, Master of Music Degree from Indiana University, and Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Leo University. |
