Federal Pell Grant

What is a PELL Grant?

The Federal Pell Grant program is the largest grant program available to students.  Unlike loan funding, Pell money does not have to be repaid.  This grant is limited to undergraduates who do not have a bachelor's degree.

Who is Eligible?

Eligibility for this grant is determined by the information put on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The material submitted to the US Department of Education is put through a formula and an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) figure is the result.  Your Student Aid Report (SAR) will list your EFC number.  Students who have an EFC between $0 to $3550 may be eligible to receive a Pell grant.  Please keep in mind this grant is only awarded to students who maintain academic progress.

Award Amount?

The award amount for the 2000-2001 academic year ranges from $400 to $3300.  The amount awarded to a student is dependent upon their EFC and enrollment status.  Pell eligible students who are registered for less than half time (5 credits or less) may still take advantage of this grant.
