The ESU Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) was established in 1991 to support faculty development for the enhancement of student learning. The purpose of the CTL is to contribute to meeting the university goal of academic excellence through providing leadership in the continued development, support and celebration of faculty as exemplary teachers. The purpose of the CTL for university students is to enable them to excel as learners.

The co-directors for the CTL are William Loffredo (Arts and Sciences), Jane Page (Health Sciences and Human Performance), and Patricia Smeaton (Professional Studies).  The CTL is located in Stroud 219.

The goals of the CTL:

1.To provide ESU faculty with the necessary tools and strategies to meet their curricular and student needs.

2.To foster an atmosphere for professional development and growth of ESU faculty through various creative opportunities of enrichment and renewal.

3.To develop and support ESU faculty as role models for students pursuing degrees in teacher education and for basic education faculty involved in these programs.

4.To help ESU students identify their individual learning styles and to provide diagnostically prescriptive strategies to maximize their achievement.
