“Without
self confidence we are as babes in the cradles. And how can we generate
this imponderable quality, which is yet so invaluable, most quickly?
By thinking that other people are inferior to oneself. By feeling that
one has some innate superiority - it may be wealth, or rank, a straight
nose, or the portrait of a grandfather by Romney...over other people.”
Virginia Woolf - “a Room of One's Own”
She
steps on us-
calls
us names as if we were
nothing.
She
makes the rules for us-
says if we disobey we'll get
nothing.
She
cries no tear of love for us-
expects us to "live up," all for
nothing.
She
has nothing to give,
but we all listen,
do what she says - what she asks - what she wants
Puppets
only, as if in a game-
around
for her pleasure only,
she hasn't even given us names.
Powerless-
by speaking up we lose her,
doing nothing we lose ourselves~
