WOMEN'S SOCCER (7-10)

Forward Justina Woolf closed an outstanding collegiate career by earning Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors. She had been the PSAC Rookie of the Year as a freshman and made the All-Conference first team four straight years. Woolf led the conference in scoring with 18 goals in 17 games for an average of 1.06 goals per game. She added two assists for 38 points.

The senior from Womelsdorf, Pa. set a school single-game scoring record with four goals in a 7-5 win over California and had three goals apiece for all the ESU scoring in 3-2 victories over Adelphi and LIU-Southampton. She also had the game-winning goals in a 3-1 overtime win over West Chester and a 1-0 decision over Millersville. For her career, Wolfe finished with 59 goals, second highest in the school's history to Terri Meierhofer's 74 goals from 1994-97. She had 14 game-winning goals and 12 multi-goal games with five 'hat tricks.' She set a school record as a junior by scoring goals in eight consecutive games.

Wolfe also was selected on the National Soccer Coaches of America All-Northeast Region first team for the third year after making the second team as a freshman. One other ESU player, junior back Jen Amos was chosen on the All-PSAC first team. She was considered the team's top marking defender as an outside back. She had made the All-Conference second team two years ago as a freshman. The Warriors finished with an 8-9 record, including a 5-6 conference mark, with Woolf scoring 58 percent of the team's 31 goals.

The team was young with five freshman regulars in stopper back Heather McMillan, outside midfielders Jamie Mitchell and Haley Case, inside midfielder Julie Byrnes and forward Kate Melcer. A sixth freshman, Sarah Barnard was an early-season defensive starter before suffering a season-ending injury. Tiffanie Savacool anchored the defense from a sweeper position in support of goalie Lindsay Vandegrift. Other regulars included outside back Crystal Kistler, midfielders Deirdre Durkin and Gwen Gemberling and forward Kelly Gunther. Melcer and Gemberling were second on the team in scoring with four goals apiece.
