Brown Records Best ESU Cross Country Runs in PSAC Championships
Warriors Place Ninth in Both Races

Edinboro, Pa. - Darryl Brown ran to fifth place at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference cross country championships Saturday morning at Edinboro University to record East Stroudsburg University best finish for the a man since 1994. The Warrior men finished in the 9th spot out of 13 teams with 235 points, improving on last year's 11th place finish. Hollie Smith was the top finisher for the ESU women in 35th place as the Warriors finished ninth in the 12 team field.

Edinboro defended their title for the 11th time in a row on the men with 25 points as Millersville was second at 64. The Scots captured their fifth straight title on the women's side at 41 points with IUP and Clarion in at 54 and 68 points while ESU was in at 252.

The top finisher for the ESU men was Darryl Brown in the 5th spot out of 103 runners with a time of 27:08. This was the highest ESU finish in the PSAC Championships since 1994, when Brent Watkins finished fourth.

The other top runners for the Warriors men were Michael Browne in 56th place with a time of 29:02, right behind him was Michael Loenser in 60th place with a time of 29:03, Mike Patrizi finished in the 61st spot with a time of 29:14, and Steve Spaits finished 72nd with a time of 29:47.

On the women's side Hollie Smith lead the Warriors placing 35th out of 102 runners with a time of 25:20. Vanessa Andes finished in the 47th spot with a time of 25:40, Holly Holtzinger finished in the 51st spot with a time of 25:45, Colleen Weber finished in the 63rd spot with a time of 26:04 and Kelly Curry finished in the 72nd spot with a time of 26:27.

The teams will compete at the NCAA Divison II East Regional at Canaan Valley Resort in Davis, WV next Saturday.
