Brown Record Setting Run and Weber Top Placer in First College Race in Cross Country

Bethlehem, Pa. Darryl Brown broke the East Stroudsburg University mens cross country five-mile record and freshman Colleen Weber was the top woman at the Lehigh Valley cross country meet Friday evening.
Brown (Kennett Square, Pa.) recorded the fastest five-mile time in Warrior history with a time of 26:26 as the men moved up two places from a year ago to fifth (126 points) of seven teams. Weber (Hamilton, NJ)finished 10th while running to the second fastest womens time over a 6K of 23:45 in the ESU cross country record book as the women also moved up a spot to sixth as a team (147 points) from 2001.
Brown was fifth of 90 men runners while teammate Mike Loenser (South Plainfield, NJ) came in at 12th (26:42). The Warriors other three top men were Mike Browne (Brodheadsville, Pa.) 34th (27:59), Pete Miller (Dallas, Pa.) 35th (28:00) and Mike Patrizi (Pottstown) 40th (28:15).
On the womens side, Weber was 10th of the 88 runners and saw her closest teammate, Vanessa Andes (Ephrata, Pa.) come in 26th (24:42). ESU saw their next three runners come in virtually together in Kelly Curry (Pittston, Pa.) 36th (25:46), Krystal Klugh (Mount Joy, Pa.) 37th (25:53) and Erin Coyne (Freehold, NJ) 38th (25:54).
Both teams will run next Saturday at the Fordham University Invitational.
