Warriors Drop Close Match to Clarion

Cheyney, Pa. - The Warriors played tough but dropped a close match to Clarion in the first night of the two day Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover event at Cheyney University. East Stroudsburg came up just short in each of the match's three games 26-30, 25-30 and 27-30 in the team's 3-0 loss to the Golden Eagles.

ESU (8-12) received some solid individual performances on the night. Outside hitter April Mellott smashed 20 kills with only two errors in 43 attempts for a .419 hitting percentage to go with 10 digs and three blocks. Andrea Myers added 16 kills and 20 digs while Lindsey Newmyer chipped in six kills and Heidi Johnston 42 assists. Kortney Dalrymple and Beth Walker dug 13 and 12 balls apiece.

The Warriors continued their PSAC East-West Crossover event tomorrow when they take on Slippery Rock at 12 noon and California (Pa.) starting at 6:00 p.m.
