East Stroudsburg, Pa. - In the tightest match of the season, the Warriors women's volleyball team battled back from a game down to fall in the end to West Chester 3-2. East Stroudsburg dropped the close five set match by scores of 23-30, 33-31, 23-30, 30-22, 12-15 while April Mellott highlighted the night with 31 kills and a .435 hitting percentage.
ESU with the loss goes to 2-2 in the PSAC East and 7-10 overall while West Chester improves to 3-1 in the league and 12-5 for the year.
Mellott finished the night with 31 kills, four errors in 62 attempts for the .435 hitting percentage. The senior added 17 digs and four blocks on the night.
Andrea Myers dug 31 balls to go with 17 kills and two blocks while Heidi Johnston dished out a season-high 64 assists. Freshman Beth Walker added 20 digs and seven kills.
The Warriors will next host Pace University Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in
Koehler Fieldhouse for a non-Conference tilt.
