ESU Spikers Sweep Past Lady Raiders

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - The ESU spikers sweep past the Shippensburg Lady Raiders behind solid hitting on the night. The Warriors took the match by scores of 30-24, 30-15 and 30-24 for their second win in a row.

The Warriors improve to 2-0 at home this season, 6-7 overall and more importantly 2-1 in the PSAC East play. Shippensburg drops to 2-9 on the season and 0-3 in Conference play.

April Mellott guided the team's effort with 14 kills while having only one error in 26 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage and 23 digs. Two other hot hitters for ESU were Sarah Brown with seven kills without an error in nine attacks and Lindsey Newmyer smashing eight kills in 15 attempts without an error as well. Newmyer added five blocks and Kristen O'Connell six as Heidi Johnston had 45 set assists.

The squad will now be off until Friday when they face Edinboro University at 5:15 p.m. in the first day of the PSAC Crossover at Lock Haven.
