Mauraders Net Game's Lone Goal in Overtime for Win Over ESU

October 9, 2002

MILLERSVILLE-Millersville midfielder Vanessa Robtison connected on a 40-yard shot that floated over the head of East Stroudsburg keeper Lindsey Vandergrift and into the net with 3:42 to play in overtime to give the Marauders a 1-0 PSAC women's soccer victory over East Stroudsburg Wednesday night.

Robtison's unassisted goal ended a defensive duel in which scoring opportunities by both teams were minimal. Millersville senior striker Stacy Brubaker (Ephrata) had the best chance to break the deadlock in regulation, but her 15-yard blast with 9:15 to play sailed just past the left post.

ESU goalie Lindsey Vandergrift stopped seven Millersville shots while Liz Agro recorded eight saves enroute to her sixth shutout of the season.

Millersville, who was ranked third in the NCAA-II East Region heading into the week, is the seventh nationally and/or regionally ranked team to defeat ESU of the team's eight defeats.

The Warriors will take on yet another ranked team in 11th-ranked nationally Lock Haven Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Eiler-Martin Stadium.
