WOMEN'S SWIMMING (7-2)

Freshman Natalie Weingartner broke five school records as the the Warriors posted another successful women's swimming with a 7-2 record. Weingartner burst on the scene by setting marks in all three backstroke events with times of 29.98 in the 50-yard back, 1:01.05 in the 100 and 2:11.83 in the 200. She also shattered records in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.14 and the 200 breaststroke at 2:33.93. Weingartner won two events at both the Golden Bear Invitational at Kutztown and the Bloomsburg Invitational. She placed in three events at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships with a seventh-place finish in the 100 backstroke, eighth in the 200 breast and 10th in the 100 back.

Heather Clouser closed a standout four-year ESU career by reaching the PSAC finals of the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:11.92 and then placing sixth in 2:13.95. It was the team's highest finish in the conference meet. The Warriors had three other individual PSAC place-winners. Senior Jamie Miller was 10th in both the 100 and 200 butterfly, Mikeala Thorne 12th in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and Karen Scott 12th in the 50 freestyle. Thorne set a school record in the 100 breast during the season with a time of 1:09.74. The Warriors placed fifth in three different relays, the 200 freestyle with a team of Linzi Reese, Thorne, Weingartner and Scott; the 200 and 400 medley with Weingartner, Thorne, Miller and Scott on both teams.

Coach Lisa Pizzuto's team opened the season by winning the Mansfield Relays. They finished second in both the Golden Bear Invitational at Kutztown and the Bloomsburg Invitational and placed sixth of 12 teams in the conference. In dual meets, the team posted seven one-sided wins, losing only to PSAC champion West Chester and Bloomsburg. Weingartner scored a team-leading 192 points in dual meets with Jamie Miller second with 161. Other top swimmers were distance freestylers Maribeth Kenny, Bridget Flack and Greta Marie Rossi, sprinters Natalie Harbold and Steph Smith, breaststroker Suzanne Skrzenski and backstroker Erin Gilbert.
