MEN'S VOLLEYBALL (6-10)

volleyball team.
Harvey made 240 digs in 66 games for an average of 3.64 digs per game. He finished far ahead of
runner-up Adam Shrader of UCLA, who had 2.71 digs pre game.
Outside hitter Dustin Wood was the team's leading hitter with 273 kills for an average of
3.21 per

outside Jon Stellefson 2.70 kills.
Middle blocker Mike Collins was the team's most effective hitter with a .297 average, 162 for 316

effective at the net with 67 kills in 131 attempts and only 18 errors for a .374 hitting mark.
The Warriors finished with a 7-17 record under second-year coach John Greenlee. The biggest win
was a 3-0 home victory over Harvard, which had won the first meeting between the two teams, 3-0. Merkel
made nine kills, hit .727 and had seven blocks in the match. The ESU team won one other EIVA match, 3-0
over LIU-Southampton, as Ty Zurn had 18 kills in 27 attempts with only three errors for a .556 hitting

Perhaps the most exciting match during the season was 3-2 away victory over New Paltz State. The
Warriors rallied from a two-game deficit and fought off two match points in the third game before winning,
37-35, behind the play of Stellefson and Ryan Peters.
James and Wood both made the All-Tournament team at the season-opening D'Youville Tournament. ESU
finished second of four schools, beating host D'Youville and Johnson and Wales and losing to Findlay.
