Sacred Heart Wins Close Match over ESU Men's Spikers

Fairfield, Ct. - East Stroudsburg lost a match that could be no tighter to Sacred Heart on Saturday. The Warriors dropped a 3-0 match with all the games decided by only two points 32-34, 30-32, 29-31. Mike Messinger guided the attack with 16 points, two aces, eight digs and four blocks.

ESU (2-5, 2-3 EIVA Hay) had their six-point lead in the third game disappear as the Pioneers (7-4, 2-3 EIVA Hay) took away the tight victory.

Besides Messinger, Andy Wimmer and Jarrett Merkel were both in double digits in kills with 12 and 10 for the contest. Wimmer added two aces and two blocks and Merkel two blocks. Dave Cuff handed out 45 assists to go with his two aces and three digs.

ESU will host Springfield College on Monday night at 7:00 p.m.
