2002 Spring Athletic Roundup

Men's Tennis (4-13)

The Warriors started the road back in men's tennis under new coach Brendon Travis. The team took a spring vacation trip for the first time in many years, traveling to Hilton Head, S.C. for a week-long series of matches against tough opponents.

The early challenges helped the young players who returned north and won four matches, including a 6-1 victory over Scranton, an opponent ESU lost to last year. Travis had four freshmen on his squad including first singles player Mark Farnsworth, who won five matches, and second singles competitor Derek Tomasino, who had the team's top record at 10-7. Farnsworth and Tomasino combined for a 6-4 mark at first doubles.

Other players were Travis Martin, who also won five matches; Casey Geyer, Michael MacArt and Sam Phommachanh. There wasn't a senior on the squad.
