Mustac 'Hat Trick' Powers Warriors Past Bloomsburg into PSAC Men's Soccer Semifinal

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Tom Mustac picked an opportune time for his first 'hat trick' in two seasons as he scored three times to give East Stroudsburg the 4-1 victory over Bloomsburg in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's soccer semifinal. The Warriors move onto the PSAC championship for the sixth consecutive season and have won the last five titles.
The seventh-ranked Warriors (15-1-2) will move onto to the host the Conference championship game on Sunday against Millersville University, who defeated West Chester 4-3 in sudden death penalty kicks as they tied 1-1 after two overtimes. Bloomsburg wraps up their solid season 12-3-5.
ESU was the first to get on the board when Roy Thompson booted in a deflected cross at 20:01. The Huskies Travis Martzall cycle kicked in a pass from Mickey Bumbarger just eight minutes later to tie the contest, 1-1.
Mustac was all the offense ESU needed from there. He netted his first goal just before the half. The senior's shot bounced off the right post and the Bloomsburg defender knocked it into the goal to give ESU the 2-1 lead at 41:45.
Mustac, the team's second leading scorer on the season, connected on a pass off the foot of Roy Thompson only 46 seconds into the second half for a 3-1 margin. His final tally came on a pass from the left sideline compliments of Roy Thompson to bring the final to 4-1.
The 'hat trick' was Mustac's first since the 2000 NCAA Division II playoff game when ESU hosted New Hampshire College in a game the Warriors won 4-2.
Bloomsburg's goalie Dustin Henry had an outstanding effort in the
game with 11 saves out of the 19 shots from the Warriors. ESU net minder Bill
Sterner saved nine Huskie attempts and allowed only his second goal in his last
607 minutes in goal.
