Warrior Seal Top Seed in PSAC Playoffs with Shutout of Slippery Rock

Slippery Rock, Pa. - East Stroudsburg University shut out Slippery Rock 5-0 to seal the top seed in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs. The eighth-ranked Warriors held their eight-straight opponent to no more than a goal and seventh shutout of the season.
After the win, ESU will head into the PSAC playoffs the top seed. They tied West Chester with 17 points in the regular season but take the tie-breaker after defeating the Golden Rams, 2-1, on October 1st. The Warriors will be looking for their sixth Conference title in a row as they improved to 14-1-2 overall and 5-1-2 in the PSAC. Slippery Rock finished their season Saturday afternoon 6-11-0 overall and 1-7-0 in PSAC play.
The Warriors' attack was lead by Mike Lotocki who scored the first goal for ESU 13:31 minutes into the game and he then found the back of the net again at 69:45. The goals were assisted by Jorge Chapoy and Damian Thompson, respectively. Kamar Samuels scored on a penalty kick at 37:09. Phil Merrill was assisted by Jason Cropper to score the third goal of the game at 48:42. The final goal came from Joe Alcaro at 83:04.
ESU goalie Bill Sterner recorded 3 saves in his seventh shutout of the season, allowing just one goal in his last five games. Slippery Rocks goalie, James Caleo, recorded 4 saves in the game and Brett Saganiec had 3 saves. East Stroudsburg out-shot Slippery Rock 24-10.
ESU will host either Bloomsburg or Millersville on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the first round of the PSAC Championships at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
