Cropper Goal Forges Soccer Tie with Bloomsburg
October 29, 2002
Bloomsburg, Pa. - Jason Cropper netted a much needed goal at a very opportunistic time. The Cropper goal for East Stroudsburg came with 38 seconds to play to tie the men's soccer match with Bloomsburg 1-1. The contest was called after the 90 minutes because of low visibility from snow and darkness at the field.
The eighth-ranked Warriors go to 13-1-2 on the season and take their league 4-1-2 and 14 points. A win on Saturday at Slippery Rock would assure ESU of a spot in the PSAC playoffs which they have won the past five seasons. Bloomsburg goes to 12-2-4 and to 3-2-2 in the PSAC.
Adam Clay connected on the game's first score at 24:46 to snap ESU goalie Bill Sterner's scoreless streak in net at 359 minutes. The game remained 1-0 Huskies until Sciurba's game-tying score.
Sterner had four saves in goal while Bloom's Dustin Henry stopped 14 Warrior shots. ESU outshot the Huskies 18-10.
