ESU Boots Bears in Men's Soccer

Kutztown, Pa. - The ninth-ranked Warriors booted Kutztown Wednesday afternoon in men's soccer. Wesley Gayle kicked a goal and assisted on another as ESU built a 4-0 lead and went on for the 4-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match.

The top-rated team in the Northeast Region, ESU, improves to 13-1-1 on the season and 4-1-1 in the league. The win sets up a clash with the 13th-ranked Bloomsburg Huskies in what could determine the Warriors placing in the PSAC playoffs. The Golden Bears drop to 8-7-2 and 2-3-1 in the PSAC.

Tom Mustac fired in the game's first goal from Jorge Chapoy at 9:20. Chapoy then assisted on the team's second score of the game off Gayle's foot at 38:19 for a 2-0 halftime lead.

Gayle assisted on the team's third goal from Phil Merrill before Mike Lotocki punched in the final tally. Kutztown's Brian Walter netted their lone score late in the game for the 4-1 final.

Bill Sterner extended his shutout run to 334 minutes with 81 minutes of scoreless time in goal today with four saves.

ESU will host 17th-ranked Southampton University this Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium with 1:00 p.m. start.
