He joined the staff after earning a letter on Penn State’s national champion-ship football team in 1986. He was a member of the Nittany Lions’ squad three years after transferring from Bucknell. He played defensive tackle.

He is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Mikulski has earned two bachelor’s degrees at Penn State and has a master’s degree from ESU. He is the state director of drug and alcohol prevention for the New Jersey Head Start Association.
