The return of seven starters, including leading scorer Antonia Giannopoulos and the
addition of four highly-talented freshmen should mean a winning lacrosse season at East Stroudsburg
University.

Sandy Miller, in her 18th year as head coach, thinks she has a 'solid' team which will be
competitive in the Pennsyvlania State Athletic Conference race.
"Our overall offense is extremely talented and we have a number of players who
should puts
points on the board," said Miller.
"Our defense is young in some positions, but the potential is there to develop as a group into a
top unit," she added.
The speedy Giannopoulos scored 35 goals and added 15 assists for 50 points last
season
from an attack wing position. She made the All-PSAC second team.
Also back are first home Michelle Cottiers, who added 26 goals and nine assists, third
home Lynn Nester and co-captain Megan Laube, who will move into the left attack wing position.
Freshman Julie Dugan, an All-Central League player for Penncrest High School last
year,
will start at second home.
Another newcomer, Leah Quigley will open at center. She was the leading scorer in the
Suburban area last season after breaking the school scoring record at Methacton High School.
There are four defensive returnees in co-captain Linda Zavitsky and Morgan Prosser at
defense wing, Dina Young at cover point and Kelly Wagner. Both Zavitsky and Wagner are two-year starters.
Filling out the probable starting line up will be freshman Susan Wesolowski at point and
either freshman Kaytlyn Paul or sophomore Nicole Kocis at third man.
Wesolowski played defense for a co-championship team at Garnet Valley High School last
year while Paul was a star at James Bennett High School in Salisbury, Md.
Miller thinks that sophomore Joyce Beighley and freshman Tara Markowitz could see action
on defense. Top reserves on offense will be senior Danielle Canuso-Bedesem, sophomore Carrie Sherlock and
freshman Erin Fiedler.
"If we stay healthy, we should have a good year and I wouldn't be surprised to see
the
team qualify for the PSAC championship game," said Miller.
The Warriors finished 7-8 last season in a rebuilding year after a record-breaking 11-5
campaign in 2000. The team had to replace first team All-America Kristin Restivo, the nation's leading
scorer two years ago with 72 goals, and Megan Macauley, who added 52 goals.
The major graduation loss from last year's team was attack wing Kim Niles, who had
career
totals of 100 goals and a school-record 68 assists.
