Huskies Net Two Second Half Scores for Win Over Warriors in Field Hockey

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Bloomsburg's Elyce Morring broke a scoreless game two minutes into the second half as the Huskies recorded a 2-0 road win over the East Stroudsburg Warriors in collegiate field hockey. Both squads came in highly regarded and nationally ranked. The Warriors had seven penalty corners in the last 15 minutes of the second half but were unable to capitalize on any attempt.

Second-ranked Bloomsburg won their 15th-straight win and improve to 6-0 on the year and 1-0. East Stroudsburg, currently ranked seventh, falls to 6-2 and 1-1 in the PSAC. Both Warriors losses have come to highly ranked opponents with the other defeat, 1-0, at the hands of sixth-ranked St. Michael's College.

Morning broke onto the scoreboard just under two minutes into the second half at 37:17 from a pass by Shanna Fritz. After the ball went from one end to the other, Sharla Partlon fired a shot from 15 feet away at the left wing to seal the win at 50:20.

The Warriors had seven penalty corners in the final 15 minutes but were unable to get more than three shots and no scores in the second half.

ESU goalie Kelly Wagner turned away 13 shots while Bloomsburg's Trish Leitzal had four saves and the shutout.

East Stroudsburg will return to action this Saturday on the road against a talented Division III team in Rowan College.
