Warriors Rout Catawba in Field Hockey

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - After being upset Tuesday, East Stroudsburg bounced back in a big way with a rout of Catawba (NC) College. The Warriors dominated the Indians in a 7-0 shutout as they outshot Catawba 26-1. Antonia Giannopoulos and Steph Hippman each found the cage twice to highlight the scorers.

ESU improves to 12-6 and will play a very important PSAC finale Friday afternoon in a makeup affair at Shippensburg starting at 3:30 p.m. Catawba drops to 1-8.

The Warriors received scores in the opening half from Sara Gorman Giannopoulos, Hippman and Mandy Sturm to take a 4-0 advantage into the half.

The squad tacked on three more second half tallies from Giannopoulos, Hippman and Lauren Beiswenger's first goal of the year. Shannon McCracken added two assists while Hippman and Cara Senese one apiece.

Goalie Kelly Wagner recorded her fifth shutout of the season in 54:17 of action while Joyce Beighley kept the Indians scoreless in the last 15:43. Neither goalie had a save. Catawba's goalie Krystal Griffith had seven saves on the day.
