February 1, 2003
East Stroudsburg, Pa. Brad Fees and Mike Newhard jumped their way into an NCAA qualifying mark to highlight the East Stroudsburg effort at the fourth annual Dick DeShriver Indoor Track and Field Invitational. Both Fees and Newhard recorded high jump efforts of 6-10 ½ to take the event and nationally qualify.
The jumps of 6-10 ½ were the best efforts by both Fees (Port Carbon, Pa./Pottsville) and Newhard (Coopersburg, Pa/Southern Lehigh). Doug Springer in the pole vault and Darryl Brown for the 3000 meters were the only other two winners for the ESU men. Springer vaulted 14-6 while Brown ran to a top time of 8:59.42.
The Warriors women captured four third places on the day with Amy Donovan recording two to her credit. Donovan was third in the triple jump (35-3 ¾) and high jump (5-0). Kristin Mullin came away with a third in 1000 meters (3:04.30) and Jayme Ferraro in the 55 meter hurdles (8.77).
The indoor track and field teams will head to take part in the Ursinus Invitational next Saturday.
