Brown Records Solid Performance in NCAA Division II Cross Country Nationals
November 23, 2002
Ashland, Ohio - Darryl Brown put the finishing touches on the best East Stroudsburg University men's cross country individual season in 12 years this afternoon. The sophomore ran to an 80th place finish of 188 runners in 33:17.1 at the snow covered NCAA Division II cross country national meet held at Ashland (Ohio) University.
Brown (Kennett Square, Pa.) had the best performance
for an ESU men's cross country runner since Marty Brans competed at the nationals
in 1990. Darryl was able to finish ahead of two runners who bettered him at the
East Regional in Nat Wibberly of Edinboro and Richard Moore of Wheeling Jesuit
who were 104th and 108th. Brown finished fifth at the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference championships and then had a fourth place finish at the Regional meet
qualifying him for today's national meet.
