The Warriors will play host to the Panaia-Soloway 37th Rotary Pocono Classic Basketball Tournament Friday and Saturday in the Koehler Fieldhouse. Friday's first-round pairings will be: 1 p.m -New Haven vs. West Virginia Wesleyan, Women; 3 p.m. - New Jersey Tech vs. Pitt-Johnstown, Men; 6 p.m. - ESU vs. Green Mountain, Women; 8 p.m., ESU vs. Bloomfield, Men. Saturday's schedule will be 1 p.m., Women's Consolation; 3 p.m., Women's Championship; 5:30 p.m., Men's Consolation; 7:30 p.m., Men's Championship.

Juwan Justice (Sr., Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) scored 25 points in each game as the Warriors beat Slippery Rock, 61-48, but lost to Edinboro, 74-67, in a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover games over the weekend.
Justice made a three-point play 14 seconds into the Slippery Rock game and the Warriors never trailed. He scored 16 of his team's first 20 points as ESU took a 20-14 lead and had 18 points at halftime. He finished with eight baskets in 17 attempts, including three 3-pointers in four tries, and a perfect 6 for 6 foul shots.
In the Edinboro game, the ESU senior easily outscored his Philadelphia city rival Kenny Tate (Simon Gratz HS), who was held to six points and had a 57-game double-figure scoring streak broken. The other Fighting Scots shot 59 percent from the floor (24 for 51), however, and broke a 63-63 tie with a 10-2 run in the final minutes. Justice was 8 for 18 from the floor, 3 for 10 on 3-pointers, and 6 for 7 from the line. He is averaging 22 points per game.
Gabe Crowley (Sr., Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington) also scored in double figures in both games with 12 points against Slippery Rock and ten against Edinboro. Jon Kelley (So., West Chester, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) pulled down ten rebounds in the Slippery Rock game and five against Edinboro and is averaging 9.3 rebounds per game.

Marc Bauknecht (285, Sr., Cheshire, Ct./Holy Cross) and Dan Roy (174. Sr., West Belmar, N.J./Wall) each scored two pins as the Warriors trounced host American International, 42-6, and Wagner, 54-4, in a pair of dual matches.
Bauknecht needed only 29 seconds to pin Wagner's Daniel Giannini and then used 1:50 in decking AIC's Ed Carson. He is now 5-1 with three pins. Roy remained unbeaten at 6-0 by decking Brad Ditto of Wagner in 1:53 and Vincent Bryant of AIC in 4:40.
The Warriors had five other double winners in Tommy Nicolicchia (125, So., Hopatcong, N.J./Hopatcong), Brad Kleckner (141, Sr., Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville), Keith Kleckner (149, So., Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville), Matt Dudeck (158, So., Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and Andy Sheaffer (197, Jr., Dublin, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham).

The Warriors put on two strong efforts, but still bowed to Edinboro, 69-52, and Slippery Rock, 64-51, in a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover games over the weekend.
Heather Wolfe (So., York Haven, Pa./Red Land) scored 12 points against Edinboro including three straight baskets early in the second half which brought ESU back to within six points at 39-33 before the Fighting Scots broke it open.
Against Slippery Rock, the Warriors briefly held a 29-28lead midway in the second half. Nine team members scored, but none hit double figures with Vanessa Kraft (So., Royersford, Pa./Spring Ford) the leader with eight points and eight rebounds while Tiffany Barnes (Jr., Middletown, Pa./Middletown) had a game-high ten rebounds and six points.

Mike Newhard (So., Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) smashed a 23-year-old school record with a leap of 6-10 1/2 in winning the high jump at the Lafayette Indoor Track and Field Invitational. He bettered the mark of 6-10 1/4 set by Toby Virgil in 1978.
Newhard, the 2001 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion in the event, provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in March. He easily beat teammate Brad Fees (Jr., Port Carbon, Pa./Pottsville), second at 6-6.
The Warriors had one other winner in the meet as Jim Dungee (Fr., Phoenixville, Pa. /Phoenixville) captured the pole vault at 12-0 with teammate Pat Finnegan (Fr., Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) second at 11-0.
Sprinter Jen Eye (Jr., Aristes, Pa./North Schuylkill) was a double place-winner with a second in the 60-yard dash in 7.60 and third in the 220 in 27.5 behind teammate Angela Gray (So., Jersey City, N.J./Ferris), who was second in the 220 in 27.1.
Mark Stinson (Jr., Wescosville, Pa./Emmaus) was runner-up in the 300 dash in 32.4, third best time in the school's history. Glen Kercher (So., Exeter, Pa./Exeter) was second in the long jump at 21-4 3/4.

Women's Swimming (3-1)

Freshman Natalie Weingardner (Fr., North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and Jamie Miller (Sr., Northampton, Pa./Northampton) each won two events and swam on two winning relay teams to lead the Warriors to a second-place finish in the Golden Bear Swimming Invitational at Kutztown.
Weingartner won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.38 and also captured the 200-yard breaststroke, a new event for her, in 2:36.93, just missing the school record by 2:35.51.
She also tied for second in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:18.90. Miller was first in both the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.05 and the 200 butterfly in 2:20.76.
Weingartner then swam the opening backstroke leg and Miller competed in the buttefly on the winning 200-yard medley relay which finished in 1:56.24 and the 400 medley relay which was timed in 4:10.96. Joining them on both relays were breaststroker Mikeala Thorne (So., Elkins Park, Pa./Cheltenham) and freestyler Karen Scott (Jr., Berwick, Pa./Berwick).
Scott sprinted to victory in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.47. Heather Clouser (Sr., Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) placed first in the 200 backstroke in 2:14.37 and also was second in the 500 freestyle, 5:26.05, and the 100 back, 1:03.31.
Other runners-up were Thorne in the 100 breaststroke, 1:11.53, and Linzi Reese (Fr., Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) in the 100 butterfly, 1:04.28. Natalie Harbold (So., Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) placed third in the 50 freestyle in 25.95.
The Warriors scored 471.50 to finish behind Swarthmore, 503, in the nine-team field. Kutztown, 307, Edinboro, 285 1/2, and Salisbury State, 259, completed the top five.
