Warrior Weekly Wrap-Up October 15 -2-
Football (4-2, 3-1 PSAC East)
Last Week's Results: *Bloomsburg (H) 7-34L
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Warriors had 26 first downs, a more than five-minute advantage in time of possession, an 100-yard rusher and a 200-yard passer. Those usually are ingredients for a victory, but it didn’t work that way last Saturday as the ESU gridders bowed to Bloomsburg by a 34-7 margin.
The ESU defense could not stop Bloomsburg’s running attack and especially tailback Marques Glaze. The Huskies piled up 355 yards rushing with Glaze breaking loose for 222 yards and four touchdowns. He scored on runs of 9 and 47 yards in the first quarter and 55 and 6 yards in the third quarter.
The Warriors had plenty of opportunities to score, but managed only one touchdown on a one-yard run by Greg Vaughn (So., Madison, N.J./Madison) in the fourth quarter. They had the ball in Bloomsburg territory on eight different possessions and reached the red zone four times, failing from the 2, 13 and 16-yard lines before finally scoring.
Quarterback Jeremy Palm (Sr., West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) completed 19 of 42 passes for 210 yards. Tailback Andre Castiglioni (Sr., Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) had his fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season with 104 yards on 21 carries, an average of just under five yards per attempt.
Craig Mahon (Jr., Nottingham, Pa., /Oxford Area) caught eight passes for 93 yards and Justin Kondikoff (So., Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) three passes for 54 yards.

Tom Mustac (Jr., West Milford, N.J./Clifton) scored two first-half goals to give the Warriors a 2-0 halftime lead over nationally-ranked Dowling, but the Lions rallied with two goals in final four minutes of play for a 3-2 victory. It was a rematch of last year’s NCAA first-round tournament game, won by ESU, 1-1, 3-2 on corner kicks.
Mustac scored from the top of the box after 6:31, following a pass from Kamar Samuels (So., St. Elizabeth, Jamaica/Munro College). He then connected again at 18:45, knocking in a deflection off a shot by Sean Stewart (Jr., St. Elizabeth, Jamaica/Munro College).
It was a furiously-played game with Dowling, ranked fourth in the latest NCAA Division II national poll, having a slight 15-11 edge in shots. ESU goalie Jason Land (Gr., Carney’s Point, N.J./St. James) played a strong game with eight saves. He never had a chance on Georges Haba’s game-winning shot with 2:34 remaining, a low rocket from 32 yards out on left which found the nets just inside the far post.
Early in the week, the Warriors beat Kutztown, 4-0, on goals by Eric Kolar (Sr., Fredericksburg, Pa./Tulpehocken), Jason Cropper (So., D’Abadie, Trinidad/Fatima College), Stewart and John Sunshine (Sr., Covington, Pa./Fleetwood).
