Men's Soccer (6-3, 1-2 PSAC)

Last Week's Results: *Millersville (H) 1-3L, *Lock Haven (A) 2-1W *PSAC game

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ESU booters scored a ‘must win’ over nationally-ranked Lock Haven, 2-1, Saturday after suffering a second straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference loss, bowing to Millersville, 3-1, earlier in the week.

With their backs to the wall in the conference, the Warriors, the conference champions the last four years and eight of the last nine, rallied from a 1-0 deficit for the victory over the Bald Eagles, ranked fifth in last week’s NCAA Division II national poll. They are now 1-2 in the league with five games remaining. The top three teams will make the conference playoffs.

Ahmet Kose (Sr., North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) scored the tying goal after a pass from Chris Pinto (Sr., Glen Ridge, N.J./St. Benedict’s). Tom Mustac (Sr., West Milford, N.J./Clifton) then put in the game-winning goal with Kose credited with an assist.

Joey Piscopo (Jr., Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) scored the team’s only goal against Millersville off a pass from Mustac. That tied the score at 1-1 early in the game, but the Marauders, although out-shot, 22-11, scored two goals for the victory.

The ESU field hockey team scored two straight victories over Millersville, 2-0, and Mansfield, 4-2, last week to stretch their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference winning streak to four straight and raised their PSAC record to 5-1. They have two league games remaining, both at home, against Shippensburg Oct. 9 and Kutztown Oct. 15, and need only one win to gain a berth in the conference playoffs for the first time in 1996.

Michelle Butkus (Sr., Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) had a goal and an assist against Millersville with Jess Anders (Sr., Telford, Pa./Christopher Dock Mennonite) scoring the other goal.
