ESU Wrestling/Clarion Duals

CLARION - East Stroudsburg University freshman Brad Washburn made a sensational collegiate debut, but the Warriors dropped three matches to Pitt-Johnstown, 27-12; Clarion, 28-9, and Kent, 33-9, in the Clarion Wrestling Duals Sunday.

Washburn won three straight matches at 149 pounds in his first dual-match appearance for ESU. He decisioned Joe Lloyd of Pitt-Johnstown, 7-5; defeated Jim Perry of Clarion, 6-2, and downed Shawn Wentz of Kent, 3-1.

The Bethlehem youngster had been a PIAA fourth-place finisher and district champion and regional runner-up for Liberty High School. He attended the University of Pittsburgh last year, but did not wrestle.

Two ESU wrestlers, Matt Dudeck (157) and Dan Roy (174) had a pair of wins. Dudeck downed Rob English of Pitt-Johnstown, 11-7, and Joe Chalton of Kent, 2-0, but lost to Shane McChesney of Clarion, 6-3. Roy had wins over Aaron Mitchell of Clarion, 3-1, and Ryan Kinley of Kent, 5-4, but bowed to Adam Musisko of Pitt-Johnstown, 4-1.

The three losses dropped ESU's record to 3-7.
