Last Week's Results: *West Chester (A) 12-6W *PSAC Eastern Division game

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tailback Andre Castiglioni (Jr., Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) gained 128 yards on 21 carries and scored the winning touchdown on a three-yard run with 8:21 remaining as the Warriors opened their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division football season by beating defending champion West Chester, 12-6, at Farrell Stadium.

The win was the second straight for the Warriors and the second straight week in which Castiglioni tallied the winning touchdown. He had a 25-yard run for the final TD with 1:05 left in a 37-33 opening win at Clarion. He now has 282 yards on 47 carries and is averaging 6.0 per carry and 141 yards per game.

Behind 6-0, the Warriors scored their two touchdowns within a minute and 40 seconds of the fourth quarter, both on 41-yard drive following West Chester turnovers.

Safety Pat Good (So., Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) set up the first TD by making an interception and returning it 29 yards. Quarterback Jeremy Palm (Jr., West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) took his team in to score in eight plays with the payoff, a two-yard pass to wide receiver Larry Harrison (Jr., Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) 10:01 remaining.

On the ensuing kickoff, ESU's Mike Bemis (So., Mont Clare, Pa./Spring Ford) hit the Clarion returner and caused a fumble which Blaec Saeger (So., Palm, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) recovered to give the Warriors possession again.

This time, it took only four plays to score with Palm hitting wide receiver Mike Patrick (Sr., East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg) on a 25-yard pass play, fullback A.J. Oliveri (So., Pittston, Pa./Pittston) carrying five yards and then Castiglioni taking it the rest of the way on an eight-yard run and the game-winning three-yarder.

Three offensive linemen, tackle Dan Bratton (Jr., Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) and guards Shepard Alston (Sr., Newark, N.J./Malcomb X Shabazz) and Jim Sodano (Jr., Madison, N.J./Bayley-Ellard) all made the 80 percent club in the film evaluations for their blocking.

Linebackers Kevin Nagle (Grad., Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) and Rich Butcofski (Sr., Shavertown, Pa./Dallas) led the ESU defense with 11 tackles apiece. Nagle leads the conference in tackles for the third straight year now with 30 in two games.
