The Warriors, now 3-0, will play their third straight home game Saturday, meeting Glenville State. The team's offense has averaged 30.5 points in its two victories over Clarion and West Chester. Tailback Andre Castiglioni is averaging 168 yards rushing per game.

Football (2-0, 1-0 PSAC East)

Tailback Andre Castiglioni (Sr., Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) ran for a career-high 187 yards and scored once as the Warriors scored their most-sided win over West Chester since a 24-0 victory in 1977.

Castiglioni carried the ball 32 times, the most in his career, and averaged 5.8 yards per carry. He scored the team's last touchdown on a 21-yard run. He has a two-game total of 336 yards for an average of 168 yards per game.

Safety Jeremy Brown (Sr., Centreville, Va./Centreville) intercepted two passes and returned one 80 yards for a touchdown which gave the Warriors a 21-3 lead in the third quarter. He also made six tackles and had four pass break-ups.

Quarterback Jeremy Palm (Sr., West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) combined with wide receiver Justin Kondikoff (So., Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) on two first-quarter touchdown passes of 11 and 15 yards. Palm was 9 for 21 passing for 111 yards while Kondikoff had seven receptions for 75 yards.

Senior guard Jim Sodano (Sr., Madison, N.J./Bayley-Ellard) and tackle Dan Bratton (Sr., Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) made the 80 percent club for their blocking with identical 80 percent marks.

Halfback Nick Beisker (So., Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) was the team's leading tackler with 12, all solo, including one for a four-yard loss. He had two pass break-ups. End Shaun Bowman (Sr., Yardley, Pa./Livermore, Ca.) made ten tackles with two sacks for 15 yards and another tackle for loss for three yards.

Tackle Dustin Barno (Jr., Easton, Pa./Easton) and linebacker Matt Connell (Fr., Westwood, N.J./Westwood) each had seven tackles with Connell getting a sack for eight yards.

Last Week's Results: Lehigh Valley Championships 6th (6 teams)

Mark Donio (Sr., Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) finished in 23rd place to lead the Warriors in the Lehigh Valley Championships on the Lehigh University course. He was timed in 27:39 for the 8,000-meter distance. The Warriors placed sixth in the six-team field with 146 points.

Men's Soccer (3-1, 0-0 PSAC)

The Warriors scored a 3-1 comeback win over LIU-Southampton in a key regional men's soccer battle last Saturday. Earlier in the week, ESU downed Nyack, 4-1.

Behind 1-0 against Southampton, Tom Mustac (Jr., West Milford, N.J./Clifton) tied the score on an assisted goal with 24:32 left. Damian Thompson (So., Arouca, Trinidad/Queen's Royal College) then put in the game-winner off a pass from Brandon Smith (Sr., Forksville, Pa./Sullivan County) with 13:53 remaining. Ahmet Kose (Sr., North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) added an insurance goal with 59 seconds to go.

Kose and Thompson also scored goals in the win over Nyack. Jason Cropper (So., D'Abadie, Trinidad/Fatima College) and Smith had the team's other two goals.

Women's Soccer (1-2, 0-0 PSAC)

Justina Woolf (Sr., Womelsdorf, Pa./Tulpehocken) scored all three goals for her third career 'hat trick' as the Warriors won their only game last week, beating LIU-Southampton, 3-2.

She chipped in the game-winner, the tenth game-winning goal of her career, with 22:16 remaining. Sweeper Crystal Kistler (Sr., Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) set up the goal by dribbling all the way down the field and booting the ball over the back line to Woolf.

Julia Byrnes (Fr., Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and Sarah Barnard (Fr., Vestal, N.Y./N.Y.) had the other assists. Goalie Lindsay Vandegrift (So., Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) made 16 saves.

Nova Tindall (Sr., Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) placed 42nd for ESU's top finish in the Lehigh Valley Championships on the Lehigh University course. Her time was 25:35 for the 6,000-meter distance. The ESU team scored 200 points to placed seventh of the seven teams.

The Warriors scored a pair of shutout wins over Muhlenberg, 1-0, and UMass-Lowell, 3-0, but then fell to two-time NCAA Division II runner-up Bentley, 4-0, in action last week.

Mandy Sturm (Jr., Shermans Dale, Pa./West Perry) scored the only goal in the Muhlenberg game late in the first half after a pass from Rachel Miller (Sr., Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock). Michelle Butkus (Sr., Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) and Shannon McCracken (Jr., Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) each had a goal and as assist and Mardelle Swoyer (Sr., Northern Lebanon/Jonestown) had the third goal in the win over UMass-Lowell.

Goalie Kelly Wagner (Jr., Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) posted the two shutouts, making three saves against Muhlenberg and ten against UMass-Lowell. The Bentley game actually was more evenly played than the final score indicated as the Falcons only has a 13-12 edge in shots.

Women's Volleyball (3-2. 0-0 PSAC Eastern Division)

The Warriors swept Nyack, 3-0, and then beat LIU-Southampton and Assumption, both 3-1, and lost to Bentley, 3-2, and Bryant, 3-0, in the weekend Bryant Invitational Tournament last week.

Outside hitter April Mellott (Jr., Dover, Pa./Spring Grove) led the team with 51 kills with outside hitter Andrea Myers (Jr., Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) next with 50. Myers was the leader in digs with 64 for an average of 3.37 per game with Mellott at 56. Middle blocker Sarah Brown (So., Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) made 14 blocks, including eight solos while setter Heidi Johnston (Jr., Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) fed off 162 assists.

Mellott had her biggest game in the win over Assumption with 20 kills in 40 attempts and only two assists for .460 hitting aveage and 18 digs.

The team will open defense of its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division title Saturday night at home against Millersville.
