ESU W-Volleyball in Lock Haven Tournament

LOCK HAVEN - East Stroudsburg University split four matches against tough competition in the Lock Haven Women's Volleyball Classic over the weekend.

The Warriors, 6-4, beat Lees-McRae, 27-30, 30-23, 30-25, 31-29, but then lost to host Lock Haven, 23-30, 18-30, 25-30, Friday. On Saturday, ESU bowed to Pace, 30-27, 23-30, 26-30, 29-31, and defeated Merrimack, 24-30, 30-23, 30-25, 30-21.

In the win over Lees-McRae, Sarah Brown was the leader with 12 kills in 22 attempts and only three error for a .409 hitting average. She also had two solo blocks. April Mellott added ten kills and 14 digs. Kristen O'Connell was the leader in digs with 15 with Heidi Johnston making 13 digs along with 37 assists.

Andrea Myers was the team's standout against Lock Haven with 12 kills, a .440 hitting average, 15 digs and two service aces. Myers then had 20 kills , 12 digs and two aces in the loss to Pace.

The Warriors showed a balanced attack in the victory over Merrimack with Myers and Brown both having 12 kills and Mellott 11. Jessica Nourse made 20 digs, four aces and two solo blocks. Johnston set up 35 assists.
