ESU-Millersville Women's Volleyball

MILLERSVILLE - Sophomore April Mellott and Andi Myers led East Stroudsburg University's vastly-improved women's volleyball team to a stunning upset over three-year Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division champion Millersville, 9-15, 15-7, 15-8, 15-8, Saturday night.

The loss broke the Marauders' 18-match conference home winning streak. The team's last PSAC home loss was to ESU, 3-0, in 1996.

Mellott hit a blazing .438 with 15 kills in 32 attempts and only one error. She added 14 digs and six solo blocks. Myers was the game leader with 22 digs and made 12 kills.

Jessica Nourse added 11 kills, 12 digs and three solo blocks and Ashleigh Reinert and Cassie Brinn also had three solo blocks. Reinert made 24 assists and Heidi Johnston 14 assists.

The Warriors had beaten 1999 PSAC East runner-up Kutztown earlier in the week. They are now 2-0 in the conference and 3-3 overall and will open their home season Tuesday at 7 p.m. against West Chester. Millersville is now 1-1 both overall and in conference play.
