ESU-Kutztown Volleyball

 

KUTZTOWN - East Stroudsburg University got its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division volleyball season off to a blazing start Tuesday night by downing Kutztown, 15-11, 14-16, 15-6, 15-8, in Keystone Hall.

Andi Myers led the Warriors with a .325 hitting average on 6 kills in 43 attempts and only two errors. She also had 12 digs. April Mellott, named the PSAC East Player of the Week Monday, made a team-high 19 kills and added 14 digs.

Coach John Greenlee alternated two setters with Ashleigh Reinert making 28 assists and adding ten digs and Heidi Johnston getting 14 assists. Cassie Brinn and Sarah Brown each had three blocks and back-up players Chrissy Tweed and Laurie Weisbrod made 14 and 11 digs, respectively.

The Warriors are now 2-3 overall and will travel to defending PSAC Eastern Division champion Millersville Saturday for a 7 p.m. match. Kutztown, a 1999 PSAC playoff participant, is now 4-4 overall.
