ESU-Kutztown Women's Volleyball
EAST STROUDSBURG - April Mellott celebrated her selection as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Volleyball Player of the Week by hitting .613 and leading East Stroudsburg University to a 3-1 victory over Kutztown Tuesday night.
The Warriors remained undefeated in the PSAC East with their sixth straight conference win, a 15-8, 15-17, 15-12, 15-9 decision. Kutztown is now 3-3 in the conference.
Mellott made 19 kills in 31 attempts with no errors. Two other ESU players had big nights at the net with Jessica Nourse making 13 kills and hitting 417 average and Andi Myers 11 kills with a .476 hitting mark. Setter Ashleigh Reinert made 52 assists.
The Warriors, now 10-9 overall, had to rally from a 12-1l deficit to win the crucial third game with four straight points, all on Chrissy Tweed's service. Mellott and Myers had a double block to tie the match and Mellott spiked for the 15th point. ESU's serving made the difference in the fourth game with Myers serving four aces, including three in a row at one point.
Jessie Didier and Missy Klein led the Golden Bears, 11-11 overall, with ten kills apiece while Erin VanGorder added nine.
