ESU Women's Swimming in Bloomsburg Invitational

BLOOMSBURG - Freshman Natalie Weingartner broke the East Stroudsburg University 200-yard breaststroke record, her fifth school mark, as the Warriors placed second in the Bloomsburg Women's Swimming Invitational Saturday.

Host Bloomsburg won the event with 781, narrowly edging ESU, which scored 778. Millersville, 548; Lock Haven, 478, and Mansfield, 350, completed the field.

Weingartner won the 200 breast in 2:34.64, breaking the record of 2:35.51 set by Kim Heller in 1985. She previously had set school marks in the 50, 100 and 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard individual medley.

The Warriors had three double winners in the meet including Weingartner who also was first in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:58.10. Jamie Miller captured the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.34 and the 200 butterfly in 2:23.05 while Heather Clouser was the winner in the 500 freestyle in 5:29.63 and the 200 backstroke in 2:13.78.

Also winning events for ESU were Natalie Harbold in the 50 freestyle, 26.21, and Mikaela Thorne in the 100 breaststroke, 1:13.30. The Warriors took the 200-yard medley relay in 1:57.84 with a team of Clouser, Thorne, Linzi Reese and Karen Scott.
