COLCHESTER, Vt. - Junior forward Justina Woolf scored a goal after only 30 seconds of play and East Stroudsburg University went on to defeat UMass-Lowell, 5-0, in the Hampton Inn Kickoff Soccer Classic at St. Michael's Saturday.
Woolf, the leading scorer in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference last season with 15 goals and six assists, got loose on a breakaway and drilled in a shot
from the left side.
The Warriors added two more goals in the first half on shots by a pair of freshmen, Diedre Durkin and Tiffanie Savacool. They scored two more times in the second half with veterans Megan Schumann and Christine Walkley
connecting.
Goalie Liz Guinip posted the shutout, making five saves.
ESU will meet the University of Bridgeport in their second tourney game today at 12 noon. Bridgeport bowed to host St. Michael's, 4-1, Saturday.
