EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior Justina Woolf scored her fourth career "hat trick" as East Stroudsburg University defeated Adelphi University 3-2 in a non-conference game Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Woolf beat out the Adelphi defense with a shot of 18 yards to put the Warriors on the board 1-0 at 7:47 in the first half. The forward then dribbled through the defense to post her second unassisted goal of the game at 36:30.
Woolf's third goal came at 57:10 in the second half off her own shot deflected by Adelphi goalie Melissa Tramontano, putting the Warriors ahead 3-0. Woolf has scored seven goals in the last three games, a total of seven goals and one assist on the season.
Freshman forward Josephine Coiro booted one into an open corner off an assist from Dina Cali at 65:10 to put Adelphi on the board 3-1 in the second half. Coiro then defeated goalie Christa Sandvig on a penalty kick into the lower corner of the net for her second goal of the game bringing Adelphi within one at 78:40.
Pulling out the close win against Adelphi, the Warriors, 3-2, head into their second conference game of the season on Sunday against Indiana University of Pennsylvania on a three game winning streak. Adelphi is now 3-2.
