ESU-Edinboro Women's Soccer

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University's undefeated women's soccer team opened its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference season by beating Edinboro, 3-0, Sunday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

The Warriors are now 4-0-1 and have allowed only one goal in five games. Edinboro fell to 4-4 and 1-2 in conference play.

Megan Schumann scored the first goal after 9:20 of play as she hooked in a shot from 12 yards out. Gwen Gemberling assisted on the play.

The other two ESU goals came in the second half. Kelly Gunther converted a penalty kick to make it, 2-0. Kelly Frame then hit a long shot from 24 yards which carried over the goalie head's into the nets to wrap up the scoring.

The Warrior defense, led by sweeper back Michelle Loh and outside backs Lisa Levine and Shannon Mullins, kept the pressure off goalie Liz Guinup, who only had to make two saves. Christina Bonomini stopped a potential Edinboro breakaway late in the game to save the shutout.
