ESU-Le Moyne Women’s Soccer
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior forward Justina Woolf scored eight and a half minutes into the game to lead East Stroudsburg to a 2-0 win over Le Moyne in a non-conference women's soccer game Thursday.
The Warriors improved their record to 6-8 with three games remaining, including a weekend trip to Western Pennsylvania to meet California, Pa. Saturday and Shippensburg Sunday. Le Moyne fell to 5-11 and had its three-game home winning streak snapped.
Woolf's goal marked her team-leading 13th of the season. She worked the ball into the offensive end and drilled a shot past Le Moyne goalkeeper Suzanne Mullen for the only goal the Warriors would need.
Junior Gwen Gemberling tacked on an insurance goal in the first half. She knocked in a rebound in the 33rd minute for her third goal of the season.
The Warriors outshot Le Moyne 20-11. Christa Sandvig made seven saves over 75 minutes in posting the shutout with Lindsay Vandegrift finishing up.
