ESU-Bloomsburg Women's Soccer
BLOOMSBURG - Becky Stamatz scored a goal with 6:28 left to give Bloomsburg a 3-2 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's soccer victory over East Stroudsburg University Wednesday.
It was the season finale for the Warriors, who finished 7-10 overall and 4-6 in the conference. Bloomsburg wound up 9-1 in the conference and is 13-2-1 overall. The Huskies will play in the PSAC playoffs along with Lock Haven and Slippery Rock next week.
Renee Williams set up the winning goal as she dribbled deep into the right corner and then crossed a ball into the box where Stametz connected from eight yards out. Williams had tied the game at 2-2 with an unassisted goal with 11 minutes left.
The Huskies had taken a 1-0 lead on Christine Krebs' penalty kick early in the second half. The Warriors then tallied back-to-back goals to go ahead. Tiffanie Savacool drilled in a free kick from 22 yards out over the head of goalie Amanda Lawler. Gwen Gemberling then scored following a scramble in front of the nets with Justina Woolf getting an assist on the play.
