ESU Women's Soccer vs. West Virginia Wesleyan

 

BUCKHANNON, W. Va. - Freshman Tiffany Savacool scored her third goal of the season with 3:18 left in the second overtime as the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team knocked off West Virginia Wesleyan, 2-1, Saturday afternoon. The Warriors improved to 9-6-1, including a 2-0-1 mark in double overtime matches.

Christina Bonomini opened the scoring for the Warriors with 23:26 gone in the first half on a shot from 25 yards out. That was the only score in the first half as ESU went to the break with a 1-0 advantage.

The score remained 1-0 until late in the contest when Wesleyan's Nadia Gaeggeler knotted the scored at 1-1 with 12:05 remaining.

After scoreless action in the first overtime, Savacool tallied her first points as a Warrior with 3:18 left in the second overtime session. Michelle Kiefer started the play with a direct kick, which she sent to veteran Shannon Mullins. Mullins then crossed to Savacool who beat keeper Claudia Heim for the game-winner.

Angie Scolaro recorded the win for the Warriors.
