ESU-Slippery Rock Women's Soccer

EAST STROUDSBURG - Justina Woolf scored two goals for East Stroudsburg University but the Warriors couldn't pull out the win as they lost to Slippery Rock 4-2 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's soccer match Saturday afternoon.

The game was the second in the Super Soccer Saturday double-header, sponsored annually by the ESU Sport Management Club.

Slippery Rock opened up the day's scoring as Sara Arsenault put one into the net at 24:15 off a throw in from Hilary Gorzelnik. Arsenault turned and shot the ball in, making the score 1-0.

Woolf scored her first goal for the Warriors in the 53rd minute as she beat the Slippery Rock defenders and shot from 18 yards out.

Slippery Rock's Cara Yannotti answered back with an unassisted goal at 60:30 with an open shot on goalie Lindsay Vandegrift, putting the Rock up 2-1.

At the 70:30 minute mark, Jessica Markowski took a high shot from outside the box and nailed it in the net, giving Slippery Rock the 3-1 edge.

The Warriors brought themselves within one when Woolf, open in front of the net, booted on in at 84:40.

Slippery Rock closed out the game in the 87th minute as Yannotti scored her second goal of the day by beating out Vandegrift.

The Warriors fell to 3-6 in PSAC play. They will take on Le Moyne away Thursday afternoon. Slippery Rock improved their PSAC record to 8-2.
