EAST STROUDSBURG - Last-second heroics by the Hoff brothers, Justin and Jarret, carried East Stroudsburg University to a 20-18 wrestling victory over Army Thursday night in the Koehler Fieldhouse.

It was the season opener for the Warriors and the first match under new coach Angelo Borzio. It also was the team's first win over Army in 12 years. The Cadets still hold a 7-2 series edge.

Justin Hoff scored a takedown in the final seconds of regulation to tie his 134-pound match against Matt Magennis and then had another takedown after 37 seconds of overtime for a 10-8 victory. He had rallied from a 6-2 deficit after Magannis scored a pair of two-point near fall in the first period.

Jarret Hoff had a buzzer-beater 3-1 win over Ben Clever at 157 pounds. With the match tied, the wrestlers were both stretched out to avoid being taken down when Hoff suddenly spun around and got on top of Clever for a takedown with less than a second remaining.

That win came in the next-to-last match with the Warriors leading, 17-12, and needing to capture one weight class for the victory.

The match started at 174 pounds and Dan Roy put ESU into the lead by beating Marcus Jameyson, 5-2, with a second-period takedown and 2:16 riding time.

Army took the next two weight classs as Eli Espericueta beat Dan Madonna, 8-4, at 184 with two takedowns apiece in the first and third periods and John Paxton pinned Brian McTigue in 6:39 at 197.

At heavyweight, ESU's Rich Koehler edged Eric Gust for the second straight year, 4-3, with a takedown with 1:30 remaining. He won last year's match, 3-2.

Moving back down to 125, the Warriors got a major decision from their top wrestler, Jeremy Sluyter, ranked tenth in this week's InterMat national poll, on a 12-2 win over Brett Gendron. Sluyter had three takedowns and a tilt for an 8-2 lead in the first period.

After Justin Hoff's win at 133, ESU made it four in a row as Brad Kleckner put on a takedown clinic at 141, scrambling, twisting and turning for five of them in a 12-4 major over David Ford.

That put ESU ahead, 17-9. The Cadets' Jeremy Singleton defeated Kesse Oberto. 7-1, at 149 with takedowns in all three periods before Jarret Hoff clinched the victory.

In the final match at 164, Army's David Eckley pinned Steve Fidler in 1:57.
